Again, note that the actual effects of load balancing are as dependent on the underlying packet-switching modes that are enabled as they are on the routing protocols. Although further discussion of switching is beyond the scope of this discussion, understanding these switching modes is strongly encouraged.

Figure 7-11 illustrates an example in which the same router (NY) is connected to its provider via two links and is receiving identical routing updates on both links.
